walking with a little poetic licence

If they plant a stone to remember my name
May the ivy grow
and wrap its gentle arms around that cold carved heart
that in time they may remember life
Let the rain fall to wash away those empty grooves
that they may feel the touch that lays beneath the wounds
Let the leaves drift to cover my grave
that they may know, now I lay
washing peacefully away.
Let the frosts come to freeze the ground
that they may not stop so long
and the wild flowers of summer grow
that they may find no time to go
and sit in sadness at my feet
but live and conquer all they meet
If they plant a stone to remember my name
May the ivy grow
and wrap its gentle arms around that cold carved heart
that they may remember life.
